About this Event
The best of local storytelling and Eastern European cinema come together for an unforgettable night exploring 'fashion'
Welcome to Fashion: A Kino Koło Notts and TenX9 collaboration! Get ready for a night of intimate storytelling and film at Broadway Cinema. Join us on Tue 18th August 2026 at 19:00 for this unique experience, promising an evening full of compassion and connection, and familiar experiences.Fashion is part of the zeitgeist - whether we subscribe to it or not - it’s about things that are accessible and things that are aspirational. How do we learn what we should and should not be wearing? If we make it cool to be unfashionable, then we are making a protest against a consuming society.
However, we are all putting something onto our bodies, we care about how we look, even if we say we don’t, there’s a whole aesthetic to looking like you don’t care. Clothes can be an extension of your skin, have your back, cover you up - by choice or force.
If you want to be one of our storytellers, on the them of Fashion, we would love to hear your story - we especially welcome the shy, hesitant and reluctant. Story submissions by the 15th August at: [email protected]; facebook.com/tenxnine.nottingham; @sai.masud
About Tenx9
Tenx9 was founded in Belfast in 2011 by Paul Doran and Pádraig ÓTuama (more details here tenx9.com), as a night for ordinary people to tell true stories of their life - not fiction, not fable. Stories with a start, middle and end (although not in that order necessarily). Stories that have the listeners wondering ‘What happened next?’ ‘Why did she do that?’ ‘Who is that character?’ or ‘That character sounds just like my Auntie Myrtle.’
Whilst Belfast is the city of Saints and Scholars, Nottingham is the City of Literature, we were born to do this :)
