Make something together 🌿Looking for an activity you can actually enjoy as a family?
Join Tamsin Quin for a relaxed, hands-on wood carving session where you and your child will learn the traditional craft of green wood carving, and each create your own hazel butter spreader to take home.
In this two-hour workshop you’ll learn safe knife techniques and simple carving skills, shaping a freshly cut hazel stick into something beautiful and useful. You can add your own decorative touch too, either carved by hand or burned into the wood using pyrography tools.
It’s practical, creative, and wonderfully absorbing. The kind of activity where conversations flow more easily and everyone leaves feeling quietly proud of what they’ve made.
Your finished butter spreader will be completely usable at home (perfect for toast, jam and weekend breakfasts) and a lovely reminder of time spent making together.
Who’s it for?
Families with children aged 8+.
No experience needed — beginners very welcome.
Children must be supervised by an adult. Adults are encouraged to join in too (it’s surprisingly therapeutic). If you’d like to carve alongside your child, please book a place for yourself so we can make sure there are enough tools and materials for everyone.
All materials provided.
Come and try something different — and make something that lasts.
