We are doing something exciting and different for our July meeting! We will cohost a Family Picnic that will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the John C. Flanagan House Museum, located at 942 NE Glen Oak Avenue in Peoria. This casual evening on the back lawn of the oldest house in Peoria is sponsored by the Peoria Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic baskets and blankets to enjoy the event.
Built in in 1837 high atop Peoria’s east bluff, the John C. Flanagan House Museum is the oldest standing house in Peoria. This American Federalist-style structure offers a commanding view of downtown Peoria and the entire river valley. On display in the home are fine collections of antique furniture, art, china, toys, tools, and period clothing. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned and operated by the Peoria Historical Society. It is also the headquarters of the Peoria Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Contact the Peoria Historical Society Office at 309-674-1921 or visit https://peoriahistoricalsociety.org/ for more information on the museum.
