Step back in time and experience history in action at this hands-on family program all about how ideas were documented and distributed before the digital age! Visitors of all ages will have the chance to write with a quill and parchment and try out real printing press type blocks. Learn about the history of communication and explore how powerful publications like the Declaration of Independence to the Bastrop Advertiser (first published on March 1, 1853 and still going strong!) were printed and distributed, shaping the course of history. It’s an interactive, fun way for families to connect with the past and see how the written word helped change the world.
All materials are provided, and participation is included with museum admission.
