We’re excited to invite our Ukrainian friends and families to the "When I Grow Up, I'm Going to Be..." Workshop!
Centrala is excited to invite you and your family to this fun and inspiring workshop, where children can explore their dreams and imagine their future careers.
Come join us for a fun and inspiring workshop where your children can explore their dreams and imagine their future. This event is all about helping kids see what they can achieve and how they can get there.
Workshop Highlights:
Fun Story and Game: "Power of Dreaming" – Enjoy a special story called “Power of Dreaming and Power of Your Mind,” and take part in fun games and challenges inspired by the story.
Creative Crafts – Make your own Vision Map with your family, showing what you want to achieve and how to reach your goals.
Explore Jobs – Learn about different jobs in the UK and Eastern Europe through interactive activities.
Why Should You Join?
Benefits of the "When I Grow Up, I'm Going to Be" Workshop:
Boost Family Well-being: Connect with each other and grow together, building a sense of purpose and understanding.
Make New Friends: Meet other families and build new friendships.
Feel at Home: Enjoy a welcoming environment where everyone feels part of a community.
Support Mental Health: Join a safe space where you can support each other’s mental health and explore big dreams.
This workshop is all about helping refugee and migrant families, like yours, through creativity and shared activities. By joining, you and your children will have a chance to share your dreams, connect with others, and feel more at home.
While the children are busy imagining their futures, parents are invited to a truly unique experience with the Bang Noorg Artist Collective from Thailand, currently in residence at Centrala.
As part of their residency, Parichat Tanapiwattanakul will lead ‘A Case Study of Substitute Cuisine,’ an engaging workshop that delves into the connections between food, identity, and migration. This thought-provoking session explores how migrants in Birmingham recreate the tastes of home with unfamiliar ingredients, adapting their traditional recipes to new environments.
Through this exploration, you’ll gain insight into how these adaptations reflect deeper stories of belonging, cultural retention, and the blending of identities. It's a chance to reflect on the ways in which food becomes a bridge between past and present, helping us navigate the complexities of migration and adaptation.
While your children are dreaming about what they want to be, you’ll be part of a meaningful conversation about how we carry our heritage with us in ever-evolving ways.
This event is supported by Birmingham City Council under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme.
All ages are welcome. Children under 3 will need extra help during the crafts.
