About this Event

Families will rotate through interactive learning stations, enjoy giveaways and take-home resources, and hear a special storytime from Madeline’s Money Adventure, a book created to help families start positive conversations about money.

The fair takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Participants can arrive anytime between 9 and 10:15 a.m. to start their journey.

Registration is limited – reserve your spot today!

This special community event features Piggy Bank Pathways, a financial literacy program founded by Dr. Darla Bishop and inspired by her daughter Madeline Bishop, a 7-year-old Lansing student and co-author of the children’s book Madeline’s Money Adventure.

Kids and teens ages 5-18 will explore money concepts through hands-on activities, games, and challenges designed just for their age group. Children will learn skills like saving, spending wisely, recognizing coins, and spotting scams, all in ways that are engaging and easy to understand.

Whether your child is just learning about coins or beginning to think about budgeting, this event will offer practical tools and fun experiences that support healthy money habits for the whole family.

About Piggy Bank Pathways

Piggy Bank Pathways is a financial literacy program designed to help children and families build healthy money habits together. The program was founded by Dr. Darla Bishop, a public health expert and financial wellness educator, and inspired by her daughter Madeline Bishop, a 7-year-old Lansing student and co-creator of the children’s book Madeline’s Money Adventure.

Piggy Bank Pathways introduces kids to important money concepts—such as saving, spending, generosity, and smart decision-making—through stories, games, and hands-on learning experiences. The program encourages families to start positive conversations about money early in life, helping children build confidence and practical skills that support long-term financial well-being.

Piggy Bank Pathways programs and activities are designed for children ages 4–10, with learning experiences that engage both kids and the adults in their lives.

About Dr. Darla Bishop

Dr. Bishop has delivered financial wellness programs for organizations including Harvard University, the University of Chicago, and national nonprofit organizations. Through Piggy Bank Pathways, she is working to make financial education more accessible, engaging, and family-centered.
