About this Event
With his installation Give the Drummer Some!, artist Robert Earl Paige invites visitors to the Smart into a colorful world of design and patterns, and for this Family Day, you will be able to design your own brilliant world! Imagine, sculpt, and assemble 3-D landscape tiles inspired by real-life environments or fictional worlds through modeling clay, wooden sculpture and other modes of construction, drawing from Paige's vibrant patterns that fill the walls, floors and furniture of the Smart's lobby. Drop in; all families and kids of all ages are welcome.
While this program is free & walk-ins are welcome, we do ask that families register in advance to help the Smart team best prepare for the day.
Family Day is a free monthly program at the Smart Museum of Art that invites kids of all ages and families of all kinds to create together and connect with one another. Each program is unique, fun, and free, emphasizing self-expression, experimentation, and hands-on creativity. Families can enjoy looking at art in the galleries and then make their way to the museum's atrium and/or courtyard (weather permitting) for an afternoon of art projects inspired by work from the exhibition. Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Children under the age of 15 should be accompanied by an adult at all times.
