About this Event
Join Food Justice Coalition for a plant-based cooking class on Friday, November 22nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
Our founder, Jeanette Padilla, will lead the cooking class. Participants will learn how to utilize affordable plant-based proteins to create delicious, nutrient-dense meals. For this class we will make a deconstructed shepherd's pie and balsamic miso glazed carrots. The price of the ticket helps fund our programs that provide vital resources to neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
Participants will learn:
- Basic knife skills to improve food preparation efficiency and safety
- How to chop vegetables and reduce food waste
- How do use spices to flavor food affordably while adding nutrient density to a dish
- An intro into when to purchase organic food versus conventionally grown food
A plant based guidebook is included in the price of the class. It contains useful information on easy, affordable, plant based eating and recipes.
Please come prepared to cook with us. Dress comfortably, this will be a hands-on class.
