FALERA - Variations on a Moment is a multimedial installation relating to a particular moment during a summer walk in the Swiss region of Graubünden. An unexpected storm and its visual aftermath are the setting in which a poetic movement unfolds.The project originates from an original recording that captures the drifting notes of a piano enveloping a landscape of megaliths and silent alpine peaks.
Conceived as a visual fugue, the installation unfolds this instant through a series of variations. Using video, photography and archival materials, the artist explores the tension between the sublime and the trivial. Repetitions and fragmentation extend the experience of time, transforming a singular observation into a layered poetic environment.
Moving between historical citation and soundscape, FALERA does not offer a mere representation, but rather the resonance of a memory in motion.
Working from personal archives, Caroline Vincart seeks to create a visual translation of observations or singular moments in time. Her practice is characterised by an exploration of the materiality of a medium, with a focus on extending the experience of time. To this end, she uses a range of formats and media, incorporating repetition and sequential series to move beyond the realm of mere representation.
