Our next TFBF event will be on Friday 16th January 2026 at the Paignton SNU Spiritualist Church and Centre, Manor Corner, Paignton, TQ3 2JB.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start. We'll finish by 9pm. A minimum donation of £3.00 per person is requested to help cover costs.
Speaker: Dr Kevin Dixon
Talk Title: Faith and Belief in Torbay
Britain’s Census has been held every ten years since 1801 and much of what we know about Faith & Belief in Torbay comes from its findings. This presentation will look at what we really know about who we are now; what truths we hold; and how beliefs are changing in our modern society by the sea. Torquay visitor and Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli once condemned "Lies, damned lies, and statistics”. Was he right?
Dr Kevin Dixon is a Torquay-based author, writer and social scientist. He Chairs Healthwatch Devon Plymouth Torbay and Engaging Communities South West, and he has a particular interest in the past and future of the Bay.
What to Expect
If you haven’t been to one of our talks before:
- The speaker usually gives a 45-minute presentation
- This is followed by 15 minutes for questions
- We end with tea/coffee, biscuits and a chance to chat
