You're invited to experience the Fairbanks Watercolor Society Spring Show, on view April 3–25 in Fairbanks Arts Association’s Bear Gallery at Pioneer Park.Join us for the First Friday opening reception on Friday, April 3, from 5–7 p.m. The gallery will open at noon to welcome visitors throughout the day.
This exhibition brings together original watercolor and water media works by Fairbanks Watercolor Society members — artists who are painting the world they know and love, from home studios and field sketchbooks to kitchen tables and plein air hillsides. Each piece was created in response to a theme that's both simple and deeply personal: inspired by where we live. The result is a gallery full of paintings that feel rooted, specific, and genuinely felt — as many different homes as there are artists in the show.
With over a hundred members and twenty-five years of painting together in Fairbanks, the Fairbanks Watercolor Society meets monthly to explore different water media skills and topics — pushing one another artistically throughout the year, the results are shared with the wider community every spring. Side by side, the works form a warm, honest portrait of artists who know how to look closely at the places that matter to them.
