About this Event

Join us virtually on Sunday, July 21st from 12:00 to 3:00 pm (CST) for an informative and FREE webinar on "Fair Housing & Real Estate: History, Compliance, & Best Practices - 3 FREE ND Real Estate CE and MN/ND Social Work CEUS."

Who Should Attend: This webinar is designed for mortgage lending professionals, real estate agents, and other housing professionals. It delves into the historical context of segregation and discrimination, examining how the real estate industry and government policies contributed to the establishment of these systems. It also explores how the federal Fair Housing Act applies to sales and lending transactions.

Course Objective: This course aims to equip realtors, lenders, and other stakeholders in housing transactions with the knowledge necessary to fulfill their responsibilities and prevent discriminatory actions. Participants will gain insights into best practices for realtors and lenders, supplemented by recent case examples and engaging videos.

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination based on several key factors, including race, color, national origin (your own or that of your family members or ancestors), religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), familial status (whether your household includes children), and disability status. Importantly, these protections extend to loans secured by residential real estate, as well as those intended for the purchase, construction, improvement, repair, or maintenance of dwellings. This coverage includes various types of financial transactions, such as mortgages, refinancing, home equity loans, and home improvement loans.

Topics covered include state and federal fair housing laws relating to the sale and financing of homes, liability under the Fair Housing Act, non-discriminatory advertising, accessibility, case examples, current trends, and more. Together, we can ensure everyone has equal access to housing opportunities.
