About this Event
Join us for a celebration of the latest teen exhibition, topography, which opens on April 2nd at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.
topography (collection): The study of the shape of the surface of the land, with all its ups and downs.
Humans, like land, are formed by the hands of others along with their own natural composition. Our “maps” are called “art”. These maps of our land are shaped throughout our lives. But as teenagers, we are in our most raw form. We are creating, experiencing and enjoying life as our identities form and this is reflected in the intensity of our ups and downs. This makes teens a perfect window into the human experience.
Topography is comprised of artworks from 20 students across the Denver Metro Area. High schoolers were asked to submit works that portrayed their authentic selves and how they are growing through expression. Society doesn’t often represent unheard diverse high school voices and their journeys throughout their lives.
Through our journeys we overcome obstacles and from those we gain confidence allowing us to shape our land the way we so choose.
