Please join us for the Faculty Forum Series featuring Gerald Ronning in Auditorium 140.Gerald Ronning presented his paper “Who Built the Clouds?: Prince's Guitars and Questions of Authorship” at the 2024 Annual CCA meeting. The paper considers the ways that authorship has been constructed in the case of Prince's custom-made Cloud guitars. Ronning argues in the case of these guitars history has been erased in the process of mythologizing the artist and in the subsequent transformation of artifacts into relics.
