According to the Presidency, Tinubu will attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The annual summit brings together heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, investors and civil society actors to deliberate on global responses to climate change, energy transition and sustainable economic development.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said the week-long event serves as a major international platform for shaping policies on sustainability, innovation and inclusive growth. The 2026 summit will be held under the theme, *โThe Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,โ* with discussions centred on aligning finance, technology and human capital to accelerate sustainable development worldwide.
Tinubu is expected to engage in bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, particularly on energy transition, climate finance and investment opportunities, areas Nigeria has been actively promoting amid ongoing economic reforms and efforts to attract foreign direct investment.
The President is scheduled to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Abu Dhabi.
His departure comes shortly after he arrived in Lagos to observe the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states. During his visit to Borno, Tinubu commissioned several infrastructure and development projects executed by the state government under Governor Babagana Zulum, in partnership with the Federal Government, as part of post-conflict recovery and development efforts in the North-East.
Tinubu was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials and leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
