About this Event
Facilitated Domino Tournament
Join us for a guided domino tournament at the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Centered on Domi(woes) of a Caribbean Colony, an installation that reimagines Borikén/Puerto Rico’s beloved pastime as a sharp look at power, politics, and everyday colonial life. Each player sits at a side of the table representing one of the forces that shape the island’s political landscape: PNP (statehood), PPD (commonwealth status), PIP (independence), and USA (the federal power that oversees it all). A game built on dominance becomes a pointed negotiation of influence, secrecy, and competing visions for Puerto Rico’s future.
As the pieces fall, visitors move between competition and conversation—reflecting on how a simple game can mirror the dynamics that shape Borikén/Puerto Rico today. Come ready to play, connect, and think about what each move might mean beyond the game.
