Lauren Serota is a product and design leader who fosters positive social and environmental impact in emerging industries. She has built and led product, strategy, operations and design teams across 4 continents and works with startups in climate and impact tech to responsibly bring new products and services to market. She cut her teeth in the electronic music industry and as a creative recruiter, and later joined Lextant then frog as a researcher and interaction designer. She shaped product and strategy for various multi-national companies and pioneering technology providers before beginning her consulting practice, Appropriate, in 2014.
A member of the founding faculty for the alternative social innovation school the Austin Center for Design, she has also taught at the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Integrated Design. She currently leads special projects with and / or advises GoodDollar, Climate Collective, Mozaic Earth and Funga, and runs a small clean cosmetics company.
