New photographic exhibition at Nenagh Library by Jennifer Banaghan throughout August. Over the past 10 years, nature therapist and photographer Jennifer Banaghan's camera has accompanied her on local rambles and adventures farther afield and the resulting exhibition is a collection of moments spent in this wild and beautiful place. Trained with the Viktor Frankl Institute of Ireland, the Taiga Institute in Finland and as a yoga therapist with Himalaya Yoga Valley, Jennifer is interested in the human-nature connection, the many ways it supports our wellbeing, and what nature needs from us in return.
Fódhla is an exploration of the human-nature relationship. The presence of “Fódhla” in the Irish landscape is discussed by John Moriarty as a transcendent quality taken from our mythology. “I asked myself does Ireland have a Dreamtime …Fódhla is Dreamtime.” In Irish mythology Fódhla is one of the three goddesses of Ireland along with her sisters Ériu and Banba. John Moriarty asks if this enchanting presence can still be sensed by those of us who foster relationships with the land today.
