About this Event
Do you love snorkeling, being in the water, and want to help track the status of seagrass beds?
Join us April 18th from 9am-11:30am at the Gulf Breeze Community Center to learn about Eyes on Seagrass, a community science initative that involves community members snorkeling seagrass beds in the Santa Rosa Sound and Big Lagoon State Park from April-September once a month for data collection!
Volunteers will learn how to identify seagrass, use refractometers and other tools such as quadrats and transect lines, navigate Survey123 for data reporting, and have the opportunity to go through a practice run at Shoreline Park.
Bring a buddy! While not required to attend the training, having a partner makes the volunteer monitoring significantly easier and is strongly encouraged. Please register you and your partner for the training.
18+ to attend training and volunteer (though you are certainly welcome to involve your family in the monitoring process throughout the year as long as there is a trained adult).
Questions? Reach out to Bailey Walkinshaw at [email protected].
