LAKE LOTAWANA, MO — A beloved community tradition is taking flight once again as Troop 251 proudly hosts the return of the “Eye on the Eagle” 5K Run on May 2nd from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
After years away from the local events calendar, the 5K is making a spirited comeback, blending fitness, fellowship, and community pride. Organized by local youth members of Troop 251, the event is designed to celebrate perseverance, leadership, and the enduring spirit of Lake Lotawana.
The race will begin at Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church at Gate 1, guiding participants on a scenic and nostalgic course through some of the lake’s most familiar streets. Runners and walkers will move through A Block, dip down through C Block, circle around the old Reality office location, and then retrace their steps back to the church for the finish.
The route was intentionally selected to honor the course from years past, bringing back memories for longtime residents while introducing a new generation to the tradition.
The “Eye on the Eagle” name reflects the rank of Eagle Scout — the highest achievement in Scouting — symbolizing vision, commitment, and service. Proceeds from the event will support Troop 251 programming, leadership development, and community service initiatives throughout the year.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to participate — whether running competitively, walking with friends, or simply coming out to cheer on neighbors and support local youth leadership.
