Here you can delve into the deep roots of Scottish heritage, tracing the footsteps of early Mesolithic hunter-gatherers, the influence of Norse Vikings, and the medieval power struggles between the MacLeod and MacDonald clans on Skye.
As we'll hike through the landscape, we'll keep an eye out for the dinosaur fossils that have been discovered in certain areas, offering a glimpse even into Skye's pre-historical times.
While enjoying the picturesque scenery of this island, we will also visit distilleries to learn about whiskey production, stay in fort hotels located on rugged coastlines, and indulge in the delicious and hearty cuisine and drinks that Scotland is famous for. Day 1 // Loch Tulla + Glenfinnan Viaduct
We'll begin our adventure by experiencing the breathtaking views at Loch Tulla, where we will admire the beauty of the surroundings and take a quick trek on the Devil's Staircase and Three Sisters Viewpoint. Afterward, we'll continue our journey towards the Glenfinnan Viaduct, a famous location seen in the Harry Potter movies. Here, we'll have the opportunity to explore the viaduct and the picturesque town nearby.
Day 2 // Fairy Pools + Dunvegan Castle
We’ll start the day with a traditional Scottish breakfast featuring black pudding and square sausage - a delightful introduction to local cuisine. Our first destination will be the Fairy Pools, where we'll embark on a mesmerizing trek through scenic landscapes, crystalline pools, and enchanting waterfalls. From there, we'll make our way to the Neist Point Lighthouse, surrounded by lush greenery and offering fantastic nature walks and stunning views. Further on to Dunvegan Castle, an ancient stronghold of the MacLeod clan for last 800 years, making it the oldest continuously inhabited castle.
We will explore the captivating history and stroll through its beautiful gardens. As the day unfolds, we'll drive to Portree, the vibrant capital of Skye, and enjoy dinner in one of the local restaurants.
Day 3 // Quiraing + Old Man of Storr
Get ready for Quiraing, one of the most awe-inspiring treks on Skye. This 7km journey will treat you to panoramic views of dramatic landscapes, including the Needle, the Table, and the Prison. Traverse these unique rock formations and embrace the stunning beauty that unfolds at each step. Later, we'll visit Lealt Falls, the iconic Old Man of Storr, and Bearreraig Bay for more scenic walkabouts.
Day 4 // Edinburgh
We'll bid farewell to Skye and make our way to Edinburgh, Scotland's vibrant capital city. Along the way, we'll stop at Tallisker Waterfall. Nestled within a lush, untamed wilderness, this cascading masterpiece is am unforgettable sight. Prepare to marvel at the sheer force and beauty as the waterfall plunges into a crystal-clear pool below. It's an ideal spot to immerse yourself in nature's wonders or capture the perfect photograph.
Next we head to Beach Bay and whiskey distillery. We ll step into a world of time-honored tradition and rich flavors as you learn about the art of whisky-making from master craftsmen.
Finally, we'll arrive in Edinburgh to check into our hotel. You'll have the evening free to explore the charming alleys, join a night city tour, or unwind at a traditional Scottish pub.
Day 5 // Departure
Early start to for a trek up Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcanic hill with panoramic views of the city, and if time allows explore Holyrood Palace, the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Next we head to the train station to take us back to Glasgow airport for return flight home.
