About this Event
Exteriors Crit Circle 001
Every 2nd Wednesday of the Month, hosted in The Red Bar at Set Social SE15
PWYC with a suggested donation of £3
Exteriors is a nomadic space — existing in the ether and ethernet — where text, image and sounds collide. We encourage the weird, the off-beat, the experimental and the in between to come together, connect, share work and collaborate. We aim to platform poetry, prose, photography, visual and performance art that sits at the fringes.
We pass hundreds of people on the streets of London only catching glimpses of interiority. This is a space to delve deeper into those strangers' minds until they feel less exterior.
Our crit-circles run for an hour and a half where ‘readers’ will have time to share their work and receive feedback from everyone in the circle. 15 slots will open monthly, with 7 ‘reader’ slots and 8 listener slots. While critique circles have traditionally retained a literary focus, we open Exteriors up to artists working within other forms to come and share work.
Please note the 7 readers must email their work to [email protected] a week prior to the event as they will be printed out (or shown in the case of visual works) to all attendees. This will help everyone visualize your work and will allow for better critique.
We want this crit-circle to be a welcoming environment, please be mindful of others when providing and receiving critique. Our aim is to build a community of artists that build each other up. While we encourage constructive criticsm there is no place for abuse.
Hosted by Elida Silvey, a Mexican-American artist living in London. She is a part of The Gobjaw Poetry Collective and is the assistant editor for Montez Press.
