Organized by Asher Lurie, Expressions of Jewish Identity in Contemporary Music features premieres of new compositions by Ethan Resnik and Asher Lurie, and performances of works by Yuval Medina and Jonathan Leshnoff. The concert portrays different aspects of Jewish composers’ heritage, upbringing, and experiences, while demonstrating how culture and music can be meaningfully intertwined. The works will be performed by Jessica Lyublinsky (mezzo-soprano), Maya Zemach (cello), and Ethan Resnik (piano), all students at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
