About this Event

This film screening includes two titles A Brighter Summer Day For The Lady Avengers (2024) by Taiwanese film-maker Birdy Wei-Ting Hung, followed by a feature by emerging female directors who depict the dreams and anxieties of women and femmes on screen. In these refreshingly original and ambitiously experimental storyies, we discover a blend of genres - from Italian giallo-inspired fever dreams to surreal black comedies and road movies - showing us how these cinematic conventions can be subverted to represent women’s desire in deliciously unconventional ways.

是次放映將呈獻兩部作品，包括台灣導演洪瑋伶執導的短片《風流少女殺人事件》（2024），以及一部由新晉女導演執導的長片。兩位導演透過銀幕，細膩刻畫女性及酷兒的夢想與焦慮。這些故事既破格創新，又充滿實驗野心，巧妙融合多種電影類型——從充滿意大利鉛黃電影（Giallo）風格的狂熱夢魘，到超現實黑色喜劇與公路電影。觀眾將見證她們如何顛覆這些電影傳統，以極具玩味及非典型的手法，重新演繹女性的慾望。
