Jane’s Art Center is excited to partner with the Museum of Art, DeLand for this special workshop with visiting artist Taylor Robenalt. Join us for a hands-on creative experience where clay becomes a way to tell your personal story through expressive forms, faces, and natural elements like flora and fauna.
Guided by Taylor, participants will explore foundational handbuilding techniques including coil, pinch, and slab construction. The focus will be on creating small sculptural works that weave together narrative and emotion—drawing from memory, love, grief, or any personal theme you choose. Each piece will begin with a simple base form, such as a head or animal, and evolve into a layered story built through detail and texture.
Each day begins with a demonstration from Taylor, sharing insights into her process, studio practices, and construction methods while developing her own sculpture. Afternoons will be dedicated to hands-on making, with individualized guidance and support as students develop their concepts and forms.
Enrollment includes a 25 lb bag of B-mix with grog clay and a complimentary ticket to visit the Museum of Art, DeLand to view Taylor’s exhibition (April 11–June 7). Please present your workshop receipt for entry. Prior experience with pinch, coil, and slab techniques is recommended. Students will also receive a schedule and suggested tools via email.
