About this Event

Join us for a practical and inspiring in‑person session designed for City and County Voluntary Sector Organisations, hosted at VAL and delivered in partnership with Dr Daniel Haslam from the Open University.

This event is ideal for organisations exploring collaboration for the first time, as well as those already engaged - or previously engaged - in partnership working who want to reflect on best practice, develop new approaches, and connect with potential future partners.

This interactive morning will explore what effective partnership and collaboration really look like in today’s voluntary sector landscape. Together, we’ll consider:

  • Why collaborate? Understanding the value and impact of partnership working.
  • Distinguishing the difference between partnerships and collaboration
  • Common barriers that prevent organisations from collaborating, and how to overcome them
  • Practical considerations, including partnership agreements, budgeting, roles and responsibilities, and navigating shared delivery
  • Real examples of collaboration and what we can learn from them
  • Risk mitigation, exploring how to anticipate and address challenges that can arise when working jointly

The session will also include dedicated networking time, giving organisations space to identify shared priorities, explore opportunities for partnership, and begin building relationships that could lead to meaningful future collaboration.

We are keeping the agenda flexible while final details are confirmed, but expect a thought provoking, engaging, and practical session.

Open to all voluntary sector organisations across the City and County.
