OVERVIEW
This online twilight (Feb 23, Feb 24) has been so successful that it returns for 2025.
With the release of the Comp 3 external brief in January this webinar will prepare you to deliver this component with confidence; explore creative ideas for course delivery, student engagement, understand the assessment criteria, find out how to effectively deliver Component 3 written task and look at examples of learner work.
WHAT THIS ONLINE COURSE PROVIDES:
• Develop a clear insight into how the BTEC learners are assessed for the external Component 3
• Develop creative teaching for learners and take away a tool kit of innovative ideas
• Know what is expected of a learner for the external assessment and what role you have as the teacher/tutor
• Explore the comp and help learners to make creative choices that are best suited to their skills
• Have the confidence to plan your course with imagination with insight from the dance specialist course leader

SESSION CONTENT
4:30 – 5.00pm: Getting to Know Comp 3
• Discussion: Exploring the overview of the course, the components, their weighting and where the external fits into the overall qualification.
• Innovative practical ideas and resources to take back to the classroom/dance studio to help you plan for success and help your learnes creative processes.
- Expected delivery and timings of the assessment window - planning for success
- Looking at target audience, pupose, themes and other dance pieces that will add value.
5.00pm- 5:30pm: Preparing for Task/Activity 1 of Comp 3
• How task 1 relates other internal units
• How to help learners generate their written responses for Tasks 1
• Top tips for the component and the timetabling of the written tasks
• Expected delivery and timings of the assessment window
5:30-5.50pm: Exploring Task 2/Activity 2 of Comp 3
• How task 2 relates other internal units
• Top tips for the unit and the timetabling of the written/collecting evidence tasks
5:5pm – 6.10pm: Exploring Activity/Task 3 and 4 of Comp 3
• How task 3 relates to task 1 and 2 and other internal units
• Expected delivery and timings of the assessment window
6.10pm-6.30pm: Managing your course
• Sharing approaches and innovative for ways to underpin knowledge prior to release of the external assessment brief and beyond
Expect: Lively Discussions with plenty of new ideas and strategies.
ABOUT JUSTINE REEVE
Justine Reeve is a freelance dance education consultant that is passionate about Dance and the Performing Arts . She has taught for over twenty four years across all age ranges as teacher, head of department, youth dance artistic director, choreographer and consultant . As an animateur with Rambert Dance Company for ten years she has designed, choreographed and delivered workshops, residencies, performance pieces and INSET’s based on company repertoire. She has written published dance resources for South East Dance, Rambert, Prime Theatre, Sadlers Wells, Pavilion Dance South West, RSL and Pearson Education to name a few. Her book 'Dance Improvisations' was published by Human Kinetics in 2011. She has also written many dance syllabi and education resources for two leading UK exam boards. She has been devising and delivering CPD courses for Keynote Educational since 2005 advising dance teachers on syllabus requirements, demands and assessment. She was a standards verifier for Edexcel’s/ Pearson’s BTEC Level 2 and 3 for ten years and was an A Level Dance examiner/moderator for eight years. She is the creator of the 'Dance Teachers agony aunt' face book group providing support for dance teachers in the UK and an external expert for OFQUAL.
