Join us to Explore the Coast, our Bilingual, STEM-focused Educational and Exploration Sail for adults and children 10 or older.About this Event
Join us aboard one of our tall ships to Explore the Coast on our Bilingual, STEM-focused Educational and Exploration Sail with hands-on scientific activities, trained bilingual (Spanish) docents and engaging materials.
Everyone is welcome to join us for the two-hour round-trip excursion, but all children must be 10 years or older, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Advanced registration is required; $10 donation per person. Space is limited! As a non-profit organization, these donations support the Los Angeles Maritime Institute's educational programs for local youth.
The ship departs from the dock at W 6th and Harbor Blvd in San Pedro. See boarding and parking details below.
If you register, but you are unable to make it on that sail date:
- Please let us know at least five days before the sail date by contacting us at 310-833-6055 or [email protected].
- When you do, you are eligible to reschedule to another Explore the Coast sail within six months of your original booking using the same contact information.
- We’re sorry, but there are no refunds for any donations made through this registration process.

Off of the West Harbor Promenade, just south of the LA Maritime Museum
PLEASE NOTE: We recommend leaving extra time to park, get to the dock, and use the restroom before coming aboard, if needed. Parking is limited right now where we dock off the West Harbor Promenade, next to the Maritime Museum. You will find public restrooms on the north side of the loop in front of the Maritime Museum.
Please see the Boarding Map and Parking Guide below and at lamitopsail.org/boarding for details about various parking options. There is also a free trolley that travels in a continuous loop for visitors' convenience.
