All are welcome to enjoy these session as part of our 2026 International Women’s Day event, as we proudly welcome two excellent female speakers to share their expertise.
10.30-11.30 Teresa Barnard Representations of Womanhood in 18th Century Art
Our first talk welcomes writer & editor Teresa Barnard to talk about how women & womanhood was represented during the Eighteenth Century.
12.00-13.00 Teresa Barnard Asserting their Rights: How the ‘Qualities of Womanhood’ Helped Structure Culture and Society.
Our second talk from Teresa draws on portraiture and will allow time for extra discussion.
14.00-15.30 Sally Waite Women in Ancient Greece
Our third talk welcomes Dr Sally Waite from Newcastle University & GNM: Hancock, to talk about what archaeology can teach us about women in Ancient Greece.
The event will take place in our welcoming teaching base, in Newcastle City Centre at Brunswick Methodist Church (near Monument Metro)
