You will get to experience the centuries-old Japanese Way of Tea during this intimate, one-hour demonstration held in Washin’an, an authentic Japanese tearoom in DC.
This is a rare opportunity to experience a traditional tea ceremony in a setting dedicated to preserving and sharing Japanese tea culture.
About the Venue
Washin’an is operated by the Urasenke Tea Ceremony Association of Washington, DC (Chado Urasenke Tankokai Washington, DC). Since opening in March 2012, Washin’an has served as a cultural center for introducing Chado to the nation’s capital.
What to Expect
During this guided demonstration:
- A host will prepare tea in the traditional manner
- Each guest will receive a sweet
- An MC will gently guide you through the ceremony, sharing cultural and historical context and answering questions along the way
