Steward-ownership offers a powerful alternative for entrepreneurs who want to build companies that serve a long-term mission rather than short-term exits. This special edition of the Expedition BlueCity combines a guided tour through BlueCity with a 2 hour workshop led by We Are Stewards, where you explore what steward-ownership is, how it works in practice, and how startups and scale-ups can use it to support sustainable, mission-driven growth.
This session is designed for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs who feel that traditional “scale fast and exit” strategies do not align with their values or long-term ambitions. Together with other entrepreneurs, you will explore whether steward-ownership could be a good fit for your company. The workshop also looks at different investment instruments and the types of investors that can support steward-owned businesses.
The workshop will be led by Esther Welles, advisor and project manager at We Are Stewards. Esther supports entrepreneurs in exploring and implementing steward-ownership structures and works on strengthening the broader steward-ownership ecosystem, with a focus on community development, education, and engaging aligned investors.
After the workshop you will dive into the circular ecosysteem of BlueCity with a guided tour, visiting some of the steward owned companies based in the circular hub.
