About the Presenter:
Anne Marie McGuire, LCSW
Anne Marie, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma-informed, person-centered therapy for adolescents and adults. She integrates evidence-based modalities including EMDR, TF-CBT, DBT, ACT, and IFS/ Parts work to support individuals struggling with complex trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions. Driven by a passion for social justice and holistic care, Anne Marie leverages her background in university counseling, community mental health, and outpatient therapy to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel seen and heard. Her integrative approach emphasizes building a strong therapeutic collaboration that honors each individual’s unique identity and empowers them on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
Objectives of the presentation:
- Understand the role of Phase 2 Resourcing in the EMDR standard protocol and its impact on transitioning traumatic memories into adaptive networks
- Demonstrate at least three EMDR-specific resourcing tools (e.g., Calm Place, Container, or Nurturing/Protective Figures) to stabilize clients during various stages of trauma processing
- Apply somatic grounding practices and affect-regulation techniques to help clients maintain their window of tolerance and prevent re-traumatization
- Identify immediate strategies for stabilizing a client before, during, and after a trauma processing session to ensure emotional safety
- Develop a personalized "Self-Care Toolkit" using trauma-informed resourcing to mitigate vicarious trauma and maintain therapeutic presence
