The accessible, timeless pursuit of putting pen to paper is a powerful way to engage children from a young age in deep thinking: observation, problem-solving, reflection, and storytelling. As people of all ages use screens more and more, it is important for adults to find new ways to help children discover the magic of simple tools. The hands-on workshop will offer educators and caregivers the opportunity to play with accessible, everyday materials in new ways and to try out unfamiliar ones.
Using real classroom stories, inspiration from the museum, and simple tools and surfaces that you choose from your own context, this workshop will give you an expanded lens on the potential for drawing and mark making in the lives of children.
*In order to get the most out of this hands-on experience, we ask that you bring with you the following tools: crayons, highlighters, and a pencil, as well as the following supports: tissue paper, aluminum foil, and cardboard.
