About this Event
Exothermic Engineering Challenge is a hands-on STEM workshop for students ages 13–18 and part of the CHEMISTRY ENGINEERING WEEK during the WH Summer Workshops Bootcamp Engineering 2026. Participants will design and test creative engineering challenges using exothermic chemical reactions while exploring how chemical energy transforms into heat through real-world concepts connected to chemistry, environmental engineering, and materials science.
This special engineering challenge takes place over four days, Monday through Thursday, giving students the opportunity to develop their projects step-by-step through experimentation, teamwork, and design. Throughout the workshop, participants will build prototypes, safely test reactions, and improve their engineering ideas while developing skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and scientific investigation.
Students will also discover how engineers and scientists use thermal reactions in real-world technologies, energy systems, and industrial applications. This engaging challenge encourages creativity, collaboration, and innovation while allowing students to apply chemistry concepts through exciting hands-on experimentation and design.
