About this Event
Join us in welcoming Peter F. Hamilton to Waterstones Cardiff to talk about his new book Exodus: The Helium Sea, the epic conclusion to the Archimedes Engine duology.
The epic conclusion of the Archimedes Engine duology by legendary author Peter F. Hamilton, set in the universe of EXODUS, a sci-fi action-adventure RPG from Archetype Entertainment. For millennia, the Crown Dominion has been at relative peace, with the Celestials in control and the human population little better than serfs. But now the Crown Dominion is facing a crisis of epic proportions – one that could change the balance of power in the Centauri Cluster forever – as an exiled faction that has been waiting for seven thousand years beyond the Helium Sea has returned to claim its vengeance. For Finn and his human allies, who have ended up at the center of this conflict through either circumstance or manipulation, this is an unprecedented opportunity. If they can band together, they may be able to outwit the Celestials and finally earn their fellow humans a place of independence and power in the Crown Dominion. But first they must locate and master ancient artifacts of immense power that could give them a needed edge in the conflict ahead – all while ducking the forces that are determined to knock them off the board for good.
Born in Rutland in 1960, Peter F. Hamilton did not attend university and was initially uninterested in pursuing a writing career. This all changed in 1988 when he sold a short story to the magazine Fear and then began work on what would eventually become the Greg Mandel trilogy of Mindstar Rising (1993), A Quantum M**der (1994) and The Nano Flower (1995). Hamilton’s next science fiction opus, The Night’s Dawn trilogy, is probably still his most well-known work; a vast space opera of over 3,000 pages in total and comprised of The Reality Dysfunction (1996), The Neutronium Alchemist (1997) and The Naked God (1999). Alongside standalone novels such as Fallen Dragon (2001) and Great North Road (2012), Hamilton has penned numerous books set in the Commonwealth Universe as well as the Salvation Sequence and the Archimedes Engine duology – the first part of which, Exodus, was published in 2024.
