
About this Event
Exit12 Dance Company, a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to healing veterans, advocating for veteran issues, and communicating the military experience to audiences through dance, is proud to present a workshop series and gala performance in Washington, DC in collaboration with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Taking place at the historic DAR Constitution Hall the evening of May 2, 2025, this special event also features performances with the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP), CreatiVets, and tenor Jesús Daniel Hernández.
In the days leading up to the gala, Exit12 will host an engaging workshop series designed to explore the power of artistic expression within the military community. These workshops will:
- Involve veterans, active-duty service members, and civilians in the creation of movement-based storytelling.
- Foster collaboration across art forms, including dance, music, and spoken word.
- Provide a healing and creative outlet for participants to reflect on themes of service, sacrifice, and resilience.
Exit12’s Artistic Director, Roman Baca will guide participants in crafting personal movement narratives that honor their unique experiences while building bridges between the military and civilian communities.
Gala Performance
The Gala Performance will culminate the week’s activities with an unforgettable evening of artistry, unity, and storytelling. Featured performances include:
- Exit12 Dance Company, presenting original works that bring military stories to life through powerful choreography and heartfelt storytelling.
- CreatiVets, showcasing original songs created by veterans that express personal triumphs and struggles.
- Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP), presenting poignant and humorous pieces from veteran storytellers and comedians.
- Jesús Daniel Hernández, US Army Iraq War Veteran turned opera tenor, performing classical repertoire alongside whimsical dances.
This extraordinary collaboration highlights the healing and unifying power of the arts while celebrating the voices of those who have served our nation.
