About this Event
Coreset is proud to present Unspoken: memories of the future, opening 1 May — an ambitious, multi-layered exhibition bringing together film, photography, live performance, and sound.
Created by Tom Harris and Donovan Pennant, with broadcast soundscapes in collaboration with Abbas Zahedi, the work explores listening as a profound mode of reflection — on experience, memory, and the shifting relationship between past, present, and future.
At its core, Unspoken combines archival imagery of the Meadows in Nottingham (1989–2006) with improvised ambient sound. This interplay unsettles the relationship between what is seen and what is heard, inviting audiences to pause, reflect, and experience familiar material in unfamiliar ways. In doing so, it opens space for new perceptions, emotional resonance, and deeper awareness.
Alongside the exhibition, visitors are invited to engage with an expanded programme of events and encounters, including:
• Live improvised performances by Tom Harris
• Facilitated reflective sessions with psychotherapist Dawn Wray
• A collaborative film screening
• Broadcast soundscapes from Sonic Support: ECO (The Extracorporeal Orchestra), exploring sound, care, and presence in healthcare and end-of-life contexts
Emerging from an ongoing dialogue between the artists — where memory itself became the medium — Unspoken: memories of the future offers a compelling framework for sensing and processing a changing world.
“There is no such thing as a silent observer.”
We warmly invite colleagues, collaborators, and those working across the arts and cultural sector to join us for this thought-provoking programme.
