This solo exhibition by Fresh Gallery Otara's founding curator celebrates the gallery's 18th anniversary and explores the ways South Auckland has shaped her life since she moved here from Fiji at age 19.
In a full-bodied takeover of the gallery, Vasemca (FKA Ema) Tavola reflects on its founding energies; a place for growth, responsive and reactive programming, where communities could see themselves and artist could test ideas and listen actively to jhow they were received. As Fresh Gallery Otara did when it first opened its doors in 2006, Tavola offers a new way to perceive South Auckland, its complexities, and its superpowers.
