About this Event
© Stefan Falke
Deutsches Haus at NYU presents the exhibition opening of Stefan Falke's "Reflecting New York." Using a hand held mirror in locations around New York photographer Stefan Falke (author of "Keep Going New York !!") invites distant buildings, structures or other visuals into the main photo to create a viewing experience that requires a second look. At times the reflection in the mirror becomes the main photo. His goal is to visually loosen up the obvious, to create images that journalist Claudia Steinberg described with these words: "What pleasurable confusion, what wonderful bewilderment, such visual richness!”. He is letting his creativity run wild while hunting for visual angles for this personal book project, and although it is a difficult undertaking working with two images at once the results often surprise him as much as he hopes they will surprise and intrigue the viewer.
The exhibition opening will be held on February 13, from 6 to 8 PM, and will include a conversation between the photographer Stefan Falke and the journalist and writer Claudia Steinberg. The exhibition will remain on view at Deutsches Haus at NYU through March 31, 2025.
