About this Event
La Maison Française is proud to present The Drawing of the Line, an exhibition of works on paper by world renowned conceptual artist Bernar Venet.
Bernar Venet, 83 years old, is a French artist who lived in New York for 57 years. A
pioneer of conceptual art, he developed the concept of the rational image, inspired by
the use of mathematics and scientific fields.
In the 1960s, he expanded his work to the sculptural field, and to different disciplines,
among others, performance, photography, painting, and poetry. His monumental
sculptures are present on all continents, and he has exhibited in around sixty museums
worldwide including Centre Pompidou (Paris), MoMA and the Guggenheim (New York), LACMA (Los Angeles), the National Museum of Modern Art (Seoul).
The Drawing of the Line brings together works presenting Bernar
Venet's exploration of the theme of the line. This investigation started in the 1980s when the artist was living in New York. The drawings display a parallel body of work to large-scale sculptural pieces that can be seen throughout the world.
