Join us at the Hermosa Beach Museum for the opening of an exhibition tracing the life of early Hermosa mayor John W. Clark! Clark’s journey ranges from childhood and early adulthood in late 19th-century Scotland to the evolving shoreline of early 20th-century Southern California, allowing this exhibit to explore the immigrant experience through themes of civic leadership, community life, and making the most of one’s retirement years. Through photographs, postcards, civic documents and athletic artifacts, visitors can see how global movement shaped a local life. The exhibition further includes Clark's enduring legacy in athletics and the built environment — from Little League to lawn bowling and the buildings that still anchor the city, such as the newly restored Clark Building — demonstrating how recreation, civic responsibility, and place together contributed to Hermosa Beach’s identity.
