About this Event
In partnership with The Story of Our Schools, 5th grade students from Garrison Elementary School led a year-long research journey to uncover their “school story” and share their findings through the creation of a museum-quality exhibit. Now completed, In their Footsteps: Garrison’s Journey of Liberation and Learning honors the history of the school as well as the historical significance of the land it sits on. Exhibit viewers will experience how the neighborhood has grown over time through photographs and oral history quotes. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the students' hard work!
Please join us for a short speaking program, light refreshments, and a guided tour of the exhibit with student docents. Please know parking is limited to nearby garages and 2hr street parking. Overflow parking is available in VABC’s gravel lot at the corner of 12th & Q Sts NW, a block down Vermont Avenue from the school. This event is free, but please RSVP so we know to expect you!
