About this Event

Join the Aurora Fire Foundation for an exclusive premiere viewing of After the Tones, a powerful documentary being shown locally before its national release.

This special screening is dedicated to our retired fire and police personnel — honoring your service while opening the door to important conversations that continue long after the tones go quiet.

Following the film, we will host a panel discussion to reflect on its message and the impact it has on first responders and their families.

Proceeds from the evening will support the mission of the Aurora Fire Foundation in serving our fire families.

We encourage early registration — this exclusive preview will sell out.

AFTER THE TONES is a 43-minute documentary focusing on many of the issues facing first responder retirees and their families. Through in-depth interviews with retired and active-duty first responders, as well as conversations with professionals who work closely with first responders, some of the topics include: knowing when to retire from the job; the challenges facing first responders upon retirement; dealing with ongoing PTS issues; struggles with suicidal ideation; and the need to find new purpose and identity in their lives. The film also offers support and resources, encouraging first responder retirees to live long and fulfilling lives after their years of public service. AFTER THE TONES has been produced and directed by Doug Hanes who created the award-winning documentary film RESIDUAL: Cumulative Trauma and PTSD in First Responders. AFTER THE TONES and RESIDUAL, along with other documentaries, short videos, articles and links to resources dedicated exclusively to helping first responders, can be viewed at the RESIDUAL RESOURCE CENTER at .
