About this Event
In this workshop structured especially for advanced students, pre-professionals, and up-and-coming freelance dancers, you’ll gain hands-on experience with Anna Hop’s choreographic methods and discover how a leading European choreographer develops material and structures rehearsals. You will build your own repertory and collaborative skills, the very ones that leading US and European dance companies, choreographers, and project-based directors look for the most. And you will grow your professional network.

Hop has created more than twenty-five original works performed in five countries, has appeared on stage over 1,600 times, and has now been hand-picked by Paris Opera Ballet Artistic Director José Martínez to help identify the next generation of star dancers.
And more. Hop’s recent credits as both choreographer and lead performer include “The Fall of Dora Maar” performance video commissioned for ARTE Concert’s Picasso Dance Project marking the 50th anniversary of Picasso’s death, coupled with her commissions to choreograph the “Exodus”, “Pinocchio”, and “Husband and Wife” full-length ballets performed on Europe’s largest stage.
In NPAFE’s Arc and Sound of Dance now being pitched to Hollywood, Hop will star as lead choreographer guiding an ensemble of emerging dancers through the emotional, tension-filled, and technical journey that culminates in the creation, choreography and world premiere of the series’ final immersive “film-first” choreographic filmwork.
The Workshop
In this Anna Hop workshop, you’ll sharpen the repertory skills that distinguish professional dancers everywhere, learning how to absorb, interpret, and perform original choreography with precision and artistry, including excerpts from Hop's acclaimed "Husband and Wife".
Hop also will be sharing something most workshops never offer: her hard-earned career insight from a woman who has successfully built her reputation in an industry still dominated by men, and who continues to redefine what a career for women dance artists can look like today in the US, Europe, really anywhere.
How Will You Gain from the Workshop?
- You will strengthen your collaboration skills and get a first-hand look inside the choreographic process of one of Europe’s most inspirational choreographers.
- You will refine your classical and contemporary techniques under a European lens and explore the fluidity between movement vocabularies central to Hop’s diverse repertoire.
- You will be a keystone for women in fostering a safe space for creativity, emotional connection, risk-taking, and artistry to thrive.
