About this Event
Next month we are meeting on Tuesday 10th March
Mairi Kidd will be joining us on the 10th of March for our next meeting of the Edinburgh Writers’ Forum. Mairi will talk about her role as Director of the Saltire Society, as well as answering questions about her own writing career.
Mairi Kidd is a writer based in Edinburgh. She writes fiction and non-fiction for adults and children. Her 2024 novel The Specimens retells the Burke and Hare case from the point of view of the women involved and was a Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month. Her new novel, Poor Creatures, explores the intense friendship between Mary Godwin - better known today as Mary Shelley - and Isabel Baxter, her childhood friend in Dundee. Mairi loves collaboration, working with other artists including musicians Lauren MacColl and Rachel Newton, whose ‘Heal and Harrow’ album and podcast was based on new short stories by Mairi.
