ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This workshop is about helping you understand and evolve your visual language by building up on your process—the unique set of marks, choices, and patterns that define how you make images. Over the course of an afternoon, we’ll explore how image is formed, how it communicates meaning, and how to recognize what you’re already doing (even unconsciously). It’s about learning how to see—how to recognize what we don’t yet know, and how that awareness can be directed toward constructing meaning.
You will learn how each Sebastian works and create images in different ways and have the time to explore them yourself. There is richness in learning from others and I decided to be open about it. There is not right way. All processes can be positive if they allow us to find better work. We kick off the conversation around a memory. Something that we feel is valid to sustain and work on in that afternoon. Once we start creating all dimensions of image making are going to be discussed.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Illustrators, animators, designers, artists, students, and anyone curious about how images speak. You don’t need to be a “professional” drawer—just someone open to exploring.
You don’t need to know how to draw. Creating images isn’t limited to drawing, painting, or collage. It can be about organizing elements, arranging shapes, choosing colors, or even working with text. The medium doesn’t matter as much as the intent behind it. What we’re exploring here is visual thinking—how to make choices that communicate something meaningful.
WHAT WE’LL DO?
– Start with a short talk about our PROCESS and IMAGE MAKING: what it is, how it shows up, and how it evolves.
– Identify key traits in your own work through quick drawing prompts
– Collage and drawing. Experimentation and image making with our hands. – Borrow from others: remix exercises based on different visual styles
– Group discussion: what do we notice? what patterns show up? what surprises us?
– Wrap up with a reflection.
WHAT’S PROVIDED?
All the art materials are included. You’re welcome to bring your own sketchbooks or favorite tools too. Computers are not welcome. : )

2:00-2:30 — Welcome and introduction
2:30–3:30 — Exercise (Ideation, Concept, Structure)
3:30–4:00 — Re group + Coffee & Treats
4:00–5:00 — Exercise (Collage, Iteration, Finessing)
5:00–6:00 — Group Discussion
