About this Event
Behind every 'event' - whether a music concert or food festival - there are people who are responsible for putting it all together. Everything from ticketing to toilets have to be organized. No specific qualifications are needed to get started, but having the right personal qualities and skills are very important.
Events management is a growing type of business. Events can range from artistic, leisure and recreational activities to business or political conferences. Examples of events include:
- music festivals and concerts e.g. Glastonbury
- agricultural or horticultural shows e.g. the Chelsea Flower Show
- sporting events - from triathlons to tennis tournaments
- weddings, birthday parties or other private functions
- events arranged by companies to entertain their clients (corporate hospitality) or to launch products
- historical re-enactments, or anniversary celebrations of historical events
- film premieres
- charitable fund-raising events such auctions and balls
- fashion shows
