Students will explore interactive stations, meet real wildlife ambassadors, and learn how they can help protect South Florida’s native ecosystems. This special event is designed to inspire Young Changemakers to protect our oceans, support local wildlife, and make a positive impact in their own communities.

10:00 AM — Check-In
Students arrive and check in at the Tacolcy Center.
10:00–11:00 AM — Sea Turtle Conservation Presentation
Learn about local sea turtle conservation efforts with Parks’ Sea Turtle Conservation Program.
11:30 AM–12:00 PM — Lunch Break
12:00–2:00 PM — Ocean Exploration Stations & Activities
? Pelican Harbor Seabird Station
Meet a wildlife ambassador (a resident turtle or opossum) and hear their rescue story.
Learn about the challenges their wild counterparts face.
? ResilientSea: Water Quality & Coral Station
Discover how local water quality impacts coral reefs and marine life.
♻️ Ocean Plastic Relay Race
Test your recycling skills in a fast-paced relay identifying what can—and cannot—be recycled.
?️ Mini Beach & Ocean Cleanup Simulation
Try removing debris from a mock shoreline and learn why real cleanups can be so challenging.
Additional Instructions for Participants
Students will begin their day at the Tacolcy Center with check-in and exploration stations. They’ll then enjoy a short presentation on sea turtle conservation, followed by hands-on activities with Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, ResilientSea, and Coastlove. Activities include meeting an animal ambassador, learning about water quality and coral health, practicing recycling skills in a relay race, and experiencing a mini ocean/beach cleanup simulation.
