People have made a living from the land at Challacombe Farm for thousands of years, with each generation making their mark on the landscape. Mark Owen who farms it, will take us on a short walk around the farm to talk about some of the history and how it is now managed to conserve its heritage and diverse wildlife alongside producing organic lamb, beef and sheepskins. Find out more at www.dartmoorfarm.comMark has lived at Challacombe with his wife Naomi (who grew up there) for the past 30 years, but has only been farming full-time for the past 7. Prior to that he managed the South West Coast Path, whilst until recently Naomi was an ecologist with Natural England, and their passions for access and wildlife has shaped how they care for the farm. Alongside farming, Mark is a Secretary of State appointee on the board of the Dartmoor National Park Authority, and a founder director of the Central Dartmoor Farm Cluster which is developing England’s largest Landscape Recovery project - an ambitious and bespoke environmental land management scheme to create an economically and environmentally sustainable Dartmoor (www.dartmoorfarmcluster.org )
