What Makes a Museum Experience Meaningful? What happens when we put engagement at the heart of everything we do in museums? In this talk, Claire Bown, founder of Thinking Museum and author of The Art Engager: Reimagining Guided Experiences in Museums, will share the ideas and practices behind her approach to creating participatory museum experiences. Drawing on years of working with museums, galleries and cultural organizations worldwide, Claire will explore how slowing down and making small, intentional choices can transform the way we connect visitors with art, objects and ideas - and create experiences that invite them to look closely, think deeply and engage meaningfully. Whether you work in museums, are studying to enter the field, or are simply curious about how we experience art and objects, this talk will give you fresh perspectives and concrete starting points for rethinking engagement.
This session is open to anyone working or studying in the museum field - from students just starting out to seasoned professionals looking to deepen their practice.
